We Return Again
This time around I have some things I wish to change. Expect turbulence, maybe some geese and some clouds. I start again small.

Another day another not much, what about you?
Could you imagine if as this post's title suggests, you were asked a question and could be given a text box to write it in HOWEVER I'd be pinged for that over XMPP protocol, and I come by and be like, "Interesting. So it's true, salt does have a major factor in baking cookies. Well today I learned ^^", and the unsuspecting reader who was curious and jolly enough get's a response from none other than The Woodcutter himself LIVE!
And here I wonder how many of you folks wondered how easy it would be to use some LLM (as people incorrectly call it "ai", no credit for any actual intelligence however) to make generally acceptable parlay in the form of dialogue. Under guise of, well, even impersonation of myself, or whatever supposed human interaction it ought to imply. I can't say I am a fan of this "ai" shite, as it had me get too upset to remain on my previous LinkedIn account, and sometimes on Reddit (which I do like this platform, it'd be my favorite "normie" social media) I end up ripping on some bot quite pointedly, it's just another misfortune rampant and unstoppable now on the very thing I've loved so much for my entire life: computers/internet.
I came here anyways to log some of my recent efforts on Debian. This past couple of days I've been diving somewhat deeper into hardening Debian and looking around, checking various of the usual Linux functions and factors. I recently about a week ago reinstalled COMPLETELY NEW Debian, which no lies happens often and wouldn't normally be such a big deal except that I had to move 100's of GB of my data, and I literally just plain nuked a couple of big partitions and disks, for a total lack of will to deal with piece by piece organizing it all. And I discovered something cool about cockpit when I was using Rocky 9.6 recently for a while, during the first half of the winter, is that it can automount and save your partition keys with dm-crypt. I was able to copy cp -rp /var/* /var/.* /mnt/ which was on /dev/mapper/ as decrypted, then use cockpit while the system was running to remount this /var/ under the new encrypted partition and also automatically decrypt and mount it at boot. So I immeditely rebooted after this HOWEVER in some series of happenings where I'm sure my eyes were not properly focused on the alphas and numerals that were upon my terminals, I accidentally deleted the entire /etc/fstab SHIIT!
SO, the purpose of this web log now is to tell you about 3 of my recent favorite Debian packages, in which the one that SAVED me here when I only WISHED I had genfstab -U / > /etc/fstab, from Arch Linux, is arch-install-scripts. Yep! You guessed it! On Debian, same package name as on Arch Linux, the arch-install-scripts that also includes arch-chroot on Arch Linux. I did not verify this was a thing for Debian, but if it is?!?! Give me a sec, I'll see...

HELL YES! !!! Do we know what this means? WE KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS::> 😸 :: For a lazy ass like myself, at least :: 😹 <::Oh what fun there is to be had!

MMmmmmmmMMmmkkKKk ....
Hardcore cool. It works as I would've hoped, wow nice. Ezpz Debian chroot into filesystems. So damn cool!

That was a lot of fun. Sorry I ran off my topic, why this is such a stoke is because for a while that night after I erased my /etc/fstab and was delighted to find arch-install-scripts in Debian packages, I had to do some cool old stuff, and bring forward some of my long time Linux knowledge, as in order to do a number of various recoveries booted in lower runlevels I had to telinit 5, and various other lower level Linux stuff in my process of fixing this. So despite that I had done a major hurt to my brand new Debian that day, I managed to eventually recover the system, including apply 3 more encrypted partitions as filesystem mounts via cockpit-ws, and reminisce live about when I learned how this all worked. Felt good reminding myself I know some shit, not just a smoker and a joker hahaha!
It was a good time, absolutely.
.. pyblog WHEN ALREADY! Perhaps the python powers to be won't let me endure as much stoke as I predict, when I can worthy work through the scripted actions of this blog. All the more reason not to forget THE WOODCUTTER.

Good Day 🌞
The sun in the title might be cute and all, but I'm unimpressed with the weather so far this February. I, Canadian through and through, demand deep freeze february as it used to be! Then me and by bear can snuggle under a log. Aha. Well asides from that Ŧ̸̻ĥ̸̻Ǝ̸̻❽ Ѽ̸̻о̸̻ѻ̸̻Ԁ̻Ҟ̸̻մ̸̻է̸̻է̸̻Ǝ̸̻Ʀ̸̻ (The ❽ WoodCutter) have acquired my laptop again after some time. Today I managed to do a few cool things in the ambition of unfucking the networks. And by networks, as plural, I have been managing 4 Linux hosts like hell for the last two days. Two of them are my VPS-es and one a Debian VM and my Rocky Linux 9 host.
What happened an hour ago that I did is a great example of how Tor and proxies in general are really handy and it's my current working study right now to test out proxies and proxy configurations. My interest next for a type of proxy is apparently called a "transparent proxy", such as squid or better yet privoxy. Have a link, or three:
Squid (software) @ WikiPedia
Privoxy @ WikiPedia
Proxy Server#Transparent_proxy @ WikiPedia --:>
Also known as an ' intercepting proxy', 'inline proxy', or 'forced proxy', a transparent proxy intercepts normal application layer communication without requiring any special client configuration. Clients need not be aware of the existence of the proxy. A transparent proxy is normally located between the client and the Internet, with the proxy performing some of the functions of a gateway or router.[citation needed]
Another thing I've tried but didn't make it far with is ipsec VPN, a layer 2 VPN. I'm intrigued about how a layer 2 connection can VPN over the internet. Also, I don't know if I've ever mentioned on my blog here but I think what my most favorite single pinpointed motivation in Linux is happens to be networking, but more specifically the uses of network packets. Maybe this is actually new knowledge to me, the part of me saying that, but I'm quite sure that's always been what I want to create with. So with that comes network protocols, yay! Subnetting, interfaces virtually and as computer hardware or peripherals as well as many others no doubt. This is the ҏҽԅғҽҫէ substance, or can I say my rice! Bowl o Packets!
Yes, so I'm glad I've gotten my laptop working okay again. Those 3 weeks I didn't have it I forgot my very anal and very peculiar setup sequences, and that led me to a number of hours of problems, and it didn't help I was baked outta my fuckin tree D: .... The dangers of Marijuana D:
Please keep your children away from the chunk, he is a wild animal and you never know what he might do. Oh, a kitty!

Spare change?? 🫣

Halloween Week
Greetings comrades!
In my life, lifestyle, walk of life I have had NO choice but to actually happen to get along with a lot of difference folks, but literally NEVER with the straight edged, successful, or the folks that are very strict in their beliefs about what people should do. Things about me would include that I absolutely detest to see a rich man not share with a poor man, to me that is ugly as hell. Another thing is I like people who don't presume, or make assumptions, nor are born to cause strife and are competitive. I only appreciate fair folks, with open minds and have respect for everyone as if we all have a set minimum level of respect owed just by existing. So, and since I've been in the hardship of some of the poorer, having harder times folks, I absolutely sympathize with them and this past week I've met a few of them who did me really cool solid favors. I am going to say I love, I love those folks, and the rest of the folks, and I feel like I owe my hood now and I plan to respect it well, cuz it welcomed me kindly. God helped to resolve the darkness in my soul and my mind and there were good folks to find and enjoy. I am happy now, I'm also happy to be gone permanently from the past two years. I've now successfully ELIMINATED ALL of the toxic fucking losers in my life, they're ALL GONE BYE. That took me a few years, actually, to let them ride out and out. That's a success. Gives me somewhat of a clean slate.
I would be glad if my happiness makes somebody else feel happy, they deserve to feel happy if so. God bless you all and don't forget to approach things patiently and with an open mind. You can learn a lot by listening and not trying to know everything. Braggards are just loud, obnoxious and serve nothing to anyone but themselves. Good Riddance POP. Enjoy your happy November happy netfolks!!!

Cool Graphics
Hi there! It is I, The Woodcutter. Quite busy lately, actually.
Today I made a graphic! Well, or, I modified actually a debian wallpaper. I didn't do much to it, I don't think, but the overall composure is quite nice:
![]()
So the second one above there, is named /img/boss4.jpg and I've modified an original photo (of myself) a number of times. I don't know how many times I've modified that one to get to the one above, but, it'd actually be more than 4 or even 5. I added some more filters, and an interesting border. You can see this graphic in action on the8woodcutter.sh/xmpp/presence where I use it as a paragraph head photo. That's another cool thing I did, last night actually, was created that web page. What I wanted to do was make a table html object with columns of the XMPP MUC's and another of XMPP JID's (all of which are mine, nobody but myself is on my XMPP server). I wanted to display the actually raw output of a prosody community module named mod_http_presence (found here: https://github.com/the8woodcutter/mod_http_presence (I took the prosody community module code from their mercurial repository and 'forked' it, or whatever (not officially tho) as a git repository, instead of mercurial). This module is rather new, and an XMPP friend of mine actually made it. I don't think it took him very long either. His XMPP name is 0x0An and also he's changed his JID back to his old one, then vanished from XMPP. I wish him well, robomofo as I called him LoL...
Lastly, in relevance to graphic art, you're welcome to join the artwork MUC chatroom on toofast.vip, which I as of only a few days ago returned to XMPP. TooFast.vip wasn't online for a number of months, and no reason really. I was using Packets.cc XMPP server instead. I own a few domains ^^ however the link to the MUC is xmpp:artwork@chat.toofast.vip?join. I'd love others to post their artwork too. Lastly, there's many kinds of art too. There's photography, graphic art, paint, pencil, pen, marker, graffiti, text graffiti using odd unicode characters, there's ascii art, there's artistic expression also which are vast and innumerable. Artwork is works of art. Can you define art? 🕹️ 🎈 🤔 💡 🙌

Musicplace.vip News
So there's a temporary solution for musicplace in effect, it's an nginx autoindex, however using a custom nginx module called ngx-fancyindex (link to github). It's really damn cool cuz it inputs a header, footer, css file and can has a number of more options than nginx's native autoindex module. The way I have the list setup currently is so that only a few specific directories will resolve, and nginx itself is configured to read $arg arguments (variable, of one query string argument) and if it's /?json then it will output the index (sans fancyindex) as JSON format, and if it's /?xml then XML format. Cool! I learned more advanced methods for nginx webserver! :D
What I'm planning on doing is using nginx again to parse using regex any locations of /MP3/*.mp3 (and /{WAV,FLAC}/*.{wav,flac} similarly) and instead of using include mime.types; in the location block it will rewrite the destination URL to a dynamic page which won't just show an audio tag, but the album art, metadata like artist, track, album, genre (if any), bpm (if any) and such, and that's how musicplace is going to be until I fully redo the flask application that it is normally. Also in the header part of the fancyindex options I was going to put a javascript search box that shortens the list by the characters typed in the search box, live. I had that at the VERY VERY FIRST EVER musiclist, one that was never seen on the web actually.
I think this is an AWESOME experimentation with nginx webserver, and good practice. A while ago I discovered I enjoy webservers, and HTTP mechanics. I'm not sure just yet if this skill I'm gaining is going to have much of a noticeable impact on any opportunities of making money, however, it has actually been decided for some years now that this is a hobby of mine. I would need one hell of a compelling reason to alter that decision.. For example a clear and possible, fully understood path to making it as a freelancer. That sort of thing I've thought about, but haven't had any revelations yet. However if, by the way, you out there on the web there you, would like me to help you with anything linux, website, webapp, networking, graphic design related, feel free to email me chunk :x: packets.cc ✉️ 😸

New times, New Month, Not much new
Yea, I'm back I guess. Life is a rollercoaster sometimes. New month now, and basically a new season. The one before THE ONE (winter, really). Just workin things out. I discovered something completely amazing btw. Digital Ocean VPS's use nested virtualization, correct me if I'm wrong, but I was successfully able to install using qemu/kvm an actual virtual machine on a Digital Ocean VPS. HOLY COW NO WAY. I'm amazed. So ofc, I'll tinker with that. Just gonna slowly climb over this humongous hurdle again at this time in life, omg the strain, so much effort, I think I might die immediately after aaaaaaa, but after that well still good stuff. I really enjoy linux system administration. Enjoy your autumn out there folks!

Wanted not presently, the chunk
Just listening to some doomcore: Bandcamp: Doom Nation Label: Dark Pressure. Where's the chunk? Certainly no where's to be found on XMPP, unless you've heard? You haven't heard? Well, even as I speak here now, I speaking to myself, cuz this website isn't up either, reason? There's reasons, however, not to let you down, yes it was partially once again that I just ragequit. I do that sometimes.
Why did I ragequit, is the question you're burning to ask me, well, because the old brain box decided that the chunk can't act like a normal human when too much brain shit is happening in the brain box. Brain get's basically overwhelmed and kicks out the most offensive offenders, such as chunk himself on XMPP raging at broneys, cuz, wtf I asked myself too. Well, as a matter of fact the exact real reason for such dumbfuckery via the chunk was because of the instability of chunk's keyboard assault, where his prose was highly jammed, scrambled if you will, due to factors like the landlord nagging him, plus the glorious packets.cc twtxt apparatus project taking sooooooo much brain real estate, plus the XMPP invasion from the broney mofo and his discord-esque literal shit content, and full power destruction of a university linux club muc, what the fuck, basically, I did once before try to state, and as well follow through on, a say where said was chunk did that chunk would just log off XMPP world at once, if hence, XMPP world provided him not happy fruits. Well, ofc, dumbfuck's do dumb fuckin shit, and chunk dumbshitted and said fuckit, ragequitted, and you know what? Much better, vacation is nice. Pythons are nice.
If I may: an interesting theme/factor of packets.cc:443 flask app is that none of the data exists on disk or in any stored databse, or python shelve, anywhere, EXCEPT the twtxt.txt files themselves, and every single HTTP request will in turn beckon the python/flask application to re-execute a tastey bunch of python script. I've gotten significant practice this past two months, and I mean significant, with parsing and dealing with lists/dicts. I am actually quite happy to say that I've actually begun to feel actually some bit proficient at python after YEARS, I finally feel a bit skilled!
